Our trial with Emis Access has been popular with patients and we are now gradually
extending the scheme. Eventually repeat prescribing will be through Emis Access
and we will be ‘winding down’ our ‘email system’ for the improved service offering
more security and choice.
WHAT IS THE NEW SYSTEM, EMIS ACCESS?
Emis Access is a secure system that is very easy to use, and once logged on you
can not only book repeat prescriptions but also book appointments with your Doctor
as well. This means you can access our services at a time convenient to yourself
at most times of the day or night.
HOW IS EMIS ACCESS BEING INTRODUCED?
We are now gradually rolling out the system, at first to people registered at
the main Phoenix surgery, in Cirencester. If you have ordered a repeat prescription
using the existing ‘email system’ you may receive a letter inviting you to join
the scheme. The existing ‘email system’ is not secure and so we would urge you
to switch to the Emis Access system when you receive the information.

HOW EASY IS EMIS ACCESS TO USE?
Once you have registered it is very easy to use. It does take a few minutes to set up initially but after that it really is very straightforward. We have had very positive feedback from our trial patients, the only small problems have been with lost passwords or initial registration that have been easily and quickly resolved.
CAN I STILL CHOOSE WHERE TO COLLECT MY PRESCRIPTION?
Yes but it is VERY important to specify chemist in the message box in Emis Access.
You are not prompted to choose from a list currently in Emis Access.
WHY THE GRADUAL ROLL OUT?
The gradual roll out means the system evolves and people can adapt gradually. Minor
problems always happen with new systems and by not rushing potential problems
can often be avoided. You need a prompt efficient service for your repeat medication
and we do not want this compromised in anyway.
HOW SECURE IS EMIS ACCESS?
All personal information contained on Emis Access is protected using the highest
standard of internet security.
CAN I REQUEST TO ENROL WITH EMIS ACCESS?
The scheme is open to all patients over 16 years of age. At the moment you need to
be registered at the Phoenix Surgery in Cirencester. If you fulfil these requirements
you can request to join.
UNDER 16’S AND EMIS ACCESS
We regret we cannot at the moment offer the scheme to the under 16’s because of the complex nature of the rules on confidentiality and consent for youngsters. We will however keep the current system open exclusively for the under 16’s
use whilst we work on a solution to this problem
FUTURE DEVOPMENTS
At a future date we may be adding more services including the ability to update
your address and contact details held at the surgery.
