Making an Appointment to See Your Doctor
Were you one of the patients that took part in our survey last year?

Thank you for your very positive feedback however we are continually seeking to improve the service we offer.
Part of the survey was to find out how satisfied you are with the ease with which you can make an appointment to see your doctor.

The Government has set four targets for all practices to meet in relation to patients getting to see their doctor.  Detailed below are the four areas with an explanation of how we intend to meet these requirements.
Make an Appointment to See Your Doctor
  • The opportunity to consult with a doctor within 2 working days.

We shall continue as before to ensure that if you feel you need to be seen by a doctor on that day you will be given an appointment.  Please phone as soon as you are able after 8.30am if you wish to be seen at a morning surgery.  You can also request a consultation with your Doctor by telephone, as we also offer this service

  • The opportunity to book an appointment more than 48 hours in advance

You shall continue to be able to book an appointment with your doctor up to 4 weeks in advance.

  • Ease of telephone access.

Although we had a favourable response in last year’s patient survey, we are again looking to hear of your experience of contacting the surgery by telephone.  In fact you may be asked to complete a short questionnaire when you next visit the surgery.

  • The opportunity to be seen by a practitioner of your choice.

The policy of Phoenix Surgery is for you to always see the same doctor.  The Partners are proud of this service and the feedback from our patients is that they benefit greatly from the continuity of care.  You will always be given an appointment with your own doctor unless, of course, they are on holiday, in which case another doctor will see you.   Occasionally you may request an appointment with another doctor, e.g., you may wish to consult with a doctor of the same sex.  We are happy to arrange this for you.

In addition to the main surgery on Chesterton Lane we also have surgeries at South Cerney and Kemble.

If you require an appointment when your doctor has a clinic at a branch surgery it may be possible for you to be seen there.

THANK YOU if you were one of the many to take part in the patient survey; we really do value your comments and find it very useful in shaping the future service we can offer to you.
