PRACTICE TEAM

The Practice Manager - Gillie Roberts
Her role is to co-ordinate all aspects of the practice. These include personnel, accounting,
systems, property maintenance, equipment and liaison and team working. Please write to her about any concerns you have about the running of the practice.

The Reception Team
The receptionist is the lynch pin in providing you with the best possible service. The more information you can give them, the better we can meet your needs.

The Practice Nurses
Appointments can be made with any of the nurses, either by you directly or after referral by your doctor. Our practice nurses offer vaccinations in our Travel Clinic and have specialist skills as follows:

  • Carol Thompson
Treatment room nurse for wound management, ear syringing, cervical screening, suture and clip removal.

  • Lynn Adlington
Heart disease and hypertension specialist nurse, women's health, family planning and drop-in teenage health clinic.

  • Sarah Beasley
Sarah is based primarily at the Royal Agricultural College but also works one day a week in the treatment room at the main surgery.

  • Sarah Beasley/Judy Little
Respiratory specialist nurses who offer regular reviews, asthma management advice and advice on stopping smoking.

  • Lynda Harking
Diabetes specialist nurse. Offering regular reviews, diabetes management advice and support.

The Medical Secretaries
Type and co-ordinate all medical correspondence and notes.

The Administration Staff
They have a central role in computer systems, patient registration, recalls, statistics, monitoring and links with the Health Authority.

The PCT also employ district nurses and health visitors who work from within the surgery.

Health Care Assistant
Our health care assistant is available by appointment at the main surgery on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings. The health care assistant is able to do blood pressure readings, some vaccinations and ECGs. She also assists the doctors during minor surgery sessions.

The health care assistant is also available at our South Cerney branch surgery on alternate Thursday mornings for blood pressures, some vaccinations and ECGs.

The District Nurses
The sisters assess the nursing need after referral from other members of the team or from the patient.

They offer nursing care for the housebound, patients discharged from hospital, seriously ill patients who wish to stay in their own homes and those with physical disabilities. They offer support and advice for families and carers. Each patient requiring care will have a named nurse attending to their needs. They can be contacted by telephoning the surgery, or contacting the district nurses directly on 643817.

The Health Visitors
The health visitors offer advice and support to mothers and children under five. They run self-help support groups, support families with children, monitor child health and development, advise on immunisation and vaccination, and run well baby and child health clinics at our South Cerney surgery, Watermoor Children's centre and at the Opportunities Centre.

They can be contacted by telephoning 08454 228922.

The Midwife
The midwife is part of a community midwife team and is happy to offer preconceptual care for the patient. The midwife also cares for mothers and families during antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal periods. She sees clients both at home and in surgeries, as well as in hospitals. There are two antenatal clinics per week at South Cerney on Monday mornings and at Cirencester on Wednesday afternoons. The midwife can be contacted on 01285 884561.

The Osteopath/Acupuncturist/Chiropodist
Following referral from your doctor, these services are available at reduced cost and are subsidised by the Phoenix Charitable Trust, Cirencester and District.

Complementary Therapists
A team of complementary therapists have the use of a complementary health suite at South Cerney. Appointments are on a private basis and are made direct with the therapist concerned.
Full details of the therapists can be found in a separate leaflet which is available at the surgeries.
